why do you want to be in myeep?

Thank you to all those who applied to be in the MYEEP Program this school year. This year we tried something new, we asked participants to write a paragraph on why they want to be in MYEEP, what skills they are hoping to learn and why they think they should be accepted into the program.
We’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s paragraphs and wanted to take the time to share a few with you all:
“I want to be in MYEEP because it would help me in the future for when I have a real job. MYEEP would also help me provide for my family and help my mom. I hope to learn better communication skills. It would also be nice to know more about technology. I should get accepted into the program because I am a young black male trying to do something positive and this program can help me stay out of trouble.”
“I want to be in MYEEP because it sounds like a good opportunity for me to help kids who need help and/or tutors. Also it will give me an opportunity to do something after school instead of just watching T.V. I am hoping to learn to be more responsible, more neat, and less disrespectful. I think I should be accepted because MYEEP sounds like an awesome program and a great way for me to make money.“
“I want to be in MYEEP because I would like to gain work experience that will help me later in life. I believe that being a part of this program will accomplish a few things for me. First, I will learn the responsibilities that come with the territory of holding down a job. I will also develop a strong appreciation for earning the money that I’ve worked for. And lastly, I will make connections with those I work with as well as the SF community. I think that being in MYEEP will benefit me and I would like the opportunity to work with your staff.”
Workshops start next week — make sure you know what time and what days you need to be at your agency!
NOTE: If you have not been contacted by a coordinator, you are not accepted into MYEEP for the school year program. You are welcome to apply again this summer. Summer applications are typically released in April.
